The SEC’s Proposed Climate-Change Rules and Some Implications for REITs

The proposed rules are designed to ensure investors receive more consistent, comparable and reliable — and, therefore, decision-useful — information that is better suited to serve as a critical input in many investors’ decisions to buy, sell and vote securities than the existing voluntary disclosures currently being made by many — but certainly not all — public companies.
