Real Estate Academics and Practitioners Envision a Win-Win Collaboration

On January 16th, IRES President Steve Williams, organized a panel at the 2023 Pacific Rim RE Society (PRRES) Conference in Sydney, to debate the extent to which current academic research was proving relevant and meaningful to industry practitioners.

The panel concluded that the CRE sector would benefit greatly from a more collaborative approach to selecting research topics as well as from changes to the way academic papers are adjudicated and published. They agreed that a more symbiotic relationship between academics and practitioners would result not only in more relevant research papers, but also the possibility of increased industry funding.
